Born on March 5, 2008, in the humble community of Masala in Ndola, Zambia, Moses Phiri grew up facing overwhelming challenges. Raised by a devoted single mother, Moses was the youngest in a family that struggled to make ends meet. Like many children in Masala, his early life was shaped by hardship — but his heart held onto something powerful: a dream.
A Game That Became a Lifeline
At just 10 years old, Moses found joy and freedom in the streets, playing barefoot soccer with friends using makeshift balls. What began as a pastime quickly became a passion. Soccer gave Moses purpose, community, and hope — even when school fees were out of reach and food was scarce at home.
A Life-Changing Opportunity: ALMS Academy
In 2020, Moses’s life changed forever when he was accepted into Arising Life Ministries School (ALMS) — a school and sports academy supported by A Future 4 Kids. This wasn’t just a place to play soccer. It was a turning point.
At ALMS, Moses received structured coaching, mentorship, and the educational support he had been missing. But when financial hardship struck again during Grade 10, he had to pause his studies due to the lack of sponsorship. Still, he didn’t give up.
He kept training. He kept believing. He kept showing up — for his family, for his team, and for himself.
A Dream Realized: Representing Zambia
On March 1, 2024, Moses’s years of grit and grace bore fruit. He was selected to play for Zambia’s National Under-17 Boys’ Soccer Team — a proud and emotional moment for his family, his community, and everyone at ALMS.
Suddenly, Moses was traveling across Zambia — and even abroad. He boarded a plane for the very first time to represent his country in Ivory Coast at the COSAFA Tournament, living the kind of experience he once thought impossible.
